Kirsty MacColl - Kite

There's an interplay between the lightly, brightly jangling guitars and the lilting, always at least potentially melancholy folk touches that always delights when coupled with sensitive singing and tightly, interestingly constructed songs - like here. This came out in 1989, which seems to have been peak time for this kind of stuff (to varying degrees - the Sundays, the Church, post-the Smiths, and in fact Johnny Marr features very recognisably on a couple of the songs on Kite).
